Here is a synopsis of the assignments for classes starting this Thursday.
Enrichments
Before class on 1/13, read “Hiawatha’s Childhood”, which is an excerpt from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s “The Story of Hiawatha”. You can find it starting on page 26 of your Enrichments book or at this link. Future assignments will be assigned through Google Classroom. Chemistry
Finish Reading Module 8 (second half), Listen to Module 8b lecture on Vimeo, Finish OYO questions, Review Study Guide Questions - do not have to write down, but look over any info you struggled with.
Swimming Creatures (5th-6th)
• Read pages 102 to the top of page 111 from Lesson 7. • Returning students should bring the binder and the folders numbered 1B, 2B, 3B, and 4B from last semester. Save the completed set of three folders from Lesson 1-5 for our recital display. • Bring a pen or pencil, colored pencil, scissors, and a glue stick. • Anyone who took home your diorama box should also bring that back. • Students are invited to bring sharks’ teeth to show the class.
Geography
See the intro email from Katie Johnson. But just to post here - make sure students have supplies for class (sharpened colored pencils, pencils, erasers, sharpener). And if they were in class last semester, he/she can bring same notebook. Otherwise binders and handouts will be provided.
Contemporary Dance
For class, please make sure your dancers have clothes they can change into each week that can allow them to use their full range of motion and aren't so loose that they could get caught up in them (or go flying if they put their torso upside down). I don't have a specific dress code, but I'm sure you can all make good choices
Once we've chosen our performance piece for each class I will post links here so practice can happen at home.
High School History & Writing
Check Google Classroom for History & Writing. Bring your thoughts on your three article reviews you did over break and be ready to discuss, and dig out your copy of Elements of Style, we'll be using that one more than On Writing Well this semester. The students had 3 separate reading/narration assignments to complete over break. Books this semester: Joan of Arc, Canterbury Tales and we will spend the last few weeks studying Shakespeare.
Marine Biology
Check google Classroom. Students should have finished module 7 and submitted a research paper through Google classroom.
Woodworking
If you have a tape measure and/or tool belt at home, please send it in with your student!
Sculpture/Pottery
Please send either an apron or a large shirt to keep the students clothes clean.
IEW Fables
Homework over the break was optional (either lesson 14 or 15)- if your student did a paper on one of those lessons please have them bring it to class tomorrow to turn in.
IEW Medieval
Homework over break was writing from the pictures given before break.
